Today wasn't the best of days as my role of Mommy. I lost my cool more than once. Cursed even more. It went downhill when Jack decided today he wasn't going to nap. I went upstairs a few times to calm him down. Nonetheless, he cried from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. I finally gave in and had him come downstairs. Normally during Jack's nap, I have Lily spend an hour in "quiet time" in her room. This gives me some quiet time of my own. Since I didn't get the beloved quiet time, I didn't get to recharge. Once both kids were both downstairs, I just had little to no patience with them. I'm not proud of this. I wish this didn't happen, but it does, more than I care to admit. I think it somehow is linked to certain times of the month if you know what I mean. (sorry men).
Perhaps some meditation is in order. To those Mommies out there who feel at their wits end - I'm right there with you today!

Oh Jen, I feel like this *a lot*. I get really down on myself for not having as much patience as I feel I should have with the kids. If the kids repeat swear words, it's probably because of me. :) We're all human. I, too, have been wanting to meditate, but I don't really know where to start. I'm thinking of ordering this Audible class by Pema Chodron called How to Meditate.
Now that I look at that CD more closely, that might not be the best one to start with. Now I'm thinking of this one:

Do you know of any good beginning meditation info? Because I know it has been studied, and actually learning the right way to do it DOES make a difference in the how your body/mind react. Just blindly trying doesn't seem to help as much.
