Tuesday PlayGroup

Each Tuesday Lily and I join a playgroup. Most of the kids are older than Lily, but it's a great time for me to talk with other Mommies and get good parenting tips. Lily enjoys watching the other kiddos play at the park and one day she'll get to join them!

Naming Ceremony

The Naming Ceremony for Lily was on Sunday the 24th. I was raised Catholic, so the only explanation of a Naming Ceremony would be like a Catholic Baptism. This ceremony symbolizes that Lily is a spiritual being and she is whole and wonderful and she is here on this earth to bring something that no one else can. It was a neat ceremony and 2 other cute little ones participated with Lily.

Sleepy Time

Today Lily had her Naming Ceremony at our Spiritual Center and I will blog about that later on. David took pictures on his camera, so I will wait until those pictures are downloaded.

I have good news. After several nights to get Lily to sleep on her own (in her own room, in her own bed) we have success! I was dreading tonight as I didn't want to go through another round of crying. We are doing a version of the Ferber Method and allowing Lily to cry in short periods of time, checking in on her, telling her it's okay and we love her, etc etc. Well, tonight I fed Lily, read her a story, sang her a song and left the room. I kept waiting for the crying to start. It never did! I checked in on her after 30 minutes and she was asleep! I couldn't believe it! I'm not sure if tonight is a fluke, but I'll take it! I feel so good right now. I have a couple of hours to myself!! David is hanging blinds and after he is done, we'll actually get to sit and talk without worrying about a crying baby.

Good night Moon, Good night Room, Good night Jen and David!

Nothing Much

Toes!

Nothing much to blog about lately. We are all doing fairly well. Lily did hit another milestone though. She is able to roll from her back to her belly and does it often! Whenever we lay her on the floor, she is on her belly within minutes. She also is saying "dada" quite a bit. Not sure if she knows what she is saying, but it's cute anyways.

David's Mom is currently in the hospital. She needed a lung biopsy. She is in good spirits and we hope she can go home either today or tomorrow. We are hopefully that the biopsy will come back with what is wrong. Nancy, my mother-in-law, has been having troubles breathing and was on oxygen for a bit. We hope they can diagnose her soon and get this resolved. She is too healthy and active to have to worry about oxygen and whatnot. Get well soon Mom De!

My parents will be coming to Colorado for 4th of July - really looking forward to it! Tonight I might go to my friend's graduation. Raz is graduating tonight with her BS! Way to go Raz! Tomorrow is Raz's party and we'll try to attend as well. It's a bit late for us (well, for Lily), but we'll try to at least make an appearance.

No plans for Sunday right now, perhaps we can paint Lily's room! We still haven't painted it yet. But, life has been so hectic right now that it's been lower on our priority list. I would like it done before my parents get here though. Once her room is set up, I'll send pictures...

Have a good weekend all!

Happy Father's Day and oh yea, my birthday

Happy Father's Day to all you Dad's out there. I'm especially grateful for my Dad and my husband who gets to celebrate this year! I was able to spend two weeks with my Dad in Indy and really enjoyed it.

Reasons I love my Dad:
  • He's very kind and friendly. He will always invite people over for dinner, even if he doesn't know them well.
  • He's a great Mexican cook!
  • He's a hard worker. I have many memories of being a little girl and hearing some power tool at 7am on a Saturday. I admire my Dad's work-ethic. He will work and work until the job gets done.
  • He's funny and has a great laugh.
  • He's generous. He is always thinking of other people and will go out of his way to do something nice for someone.
  • There are many more reasons...Love you Dad!
I believe we will be going out to lunch today to celebrate Dad's Day.
It's also my birthday today, but haven't really gotten too excited about it. For some reason I liked being 32 and don't want to turn 33, but can't really stop life, so here I am 33 years old.

Here's a pic of my Dad...
This was on his Birthday this year, which was June 1st

This is the only picture I have of my Dad where he is not giving the camera "the finger" - gotta love my Dad! ha ha

Back Home Again In Colorado...

Okay, I'm stealing from the song "Back home again in Indiana" - but, it works.
I arrived home yesterday around 7:30am or so. It was quite an early flight! Once I got home, Lily and I took a long nap.

I think I hear the little one stirring from her nap, so I will make this blog a quick one.

Old Friends

On Saturday night, some very old friends of mine came over for dinner. I haven't seen Denise and Laura since 8th grade! (I won't mention how long ago that was - ya know, around 10 years ago or so - ha ha!). We all went to St. Lawrence together. Mark, my soon to be brother-in-law also went to school with us!

He Gave Her a Ring

Tonight Mark asked my sister, Bonnie to marry him. Congratulations Bonnie and Mark! It was very sweet and in front of my whole family (very brave Mark!). I'm so excited for my little sister and I look forward to helping her out with any details that I can from Colorado.
Bonnie and Mark - love you guys!!!!

Hot and Humid

I always forget what humidity feels like until I visit Indianapolis in the summer. Damn it's hot and humid outside today. It's about 90 degrees. A bit warm for me, but bearable. I would much rather have the heat than the cold.

Today Lily and I went to lunch with my parents (Nana and Abuelito). We went to a Mexican restaurant (surprise surprise). It was really good. I think it was called Panchos. I also drove by the house where I grew up. The neighborhood looks about the same. I forgot how green it is there. So many trees! I miss trees. My parents' new house doesn't have as many trees as the former house. Our house in Colorado has a couple of trees, but nothing like this. I would have taken a picture, but again, my battery is dead. Perhaps I'll drive by again this weekend after the charger comes.

Tomorrow is my brother's real 30th birthday. We won't be celebrating until Sunday though as Matthew wants to hit Hooters for his birthday (classy brother!). ha ha I guess it's a guy thing.

On Saturday I will be having dinner with some friends from my elementary school, St. Lawrence. This should be interesting as I haven't seem them since 8th grade. Should be a good time nonetheless.

I think it's time for a quick nap. This heat wore me out!

Peace!

At my parents house...

Right now I'm at my parents home hanging out until everyone comes home from work. Currently Lily is sleeping in the Pack N Play my sister in law let me borrow. Lily normally doesn't sleep very long in a crib like contraption. Speaking of, she just woke up - that was 25 minutes - not too bad I guess. I'll let her cry for just a second to see if she goes back to sleep. She really should sleep an hour for her naps.

Couple hours later...

Well, Lily never went back to sleep on her own. She did take a nap with me though. She seems to sleep the best when I hold her.

Earlier Lily and I went to the store to pick up some bread, milk, wipes and the new Michael Buble CD. Haven't listened to the CD yet, but will let you know what I think.

I would show you more pictures of my visit, but my camera has lost its battery power. My husband is mailing the charger out and we should have it by Friday.

Hope you all are doing well...

It was a Surprise

Jen, Matt, Christie, Bonnie

Here's a picture of the night we surprised my brother, Matt. He turns 30th this year. Carrie, my sister in law did a great job on the surprise. Matt had no idea. All the friends and family gathered at a bar in downtown Indy. Matt and Carrie had gone to dinner, then as he came upstairs, we were all waiting for him. Matt says this was the best birthday party ever.

Here's Carrie having fun with the big fan

June Birthdays and Napping

June is a busy month for my family. My Dad's birthday is June 1st, my brother's June 8th and I am June 17th. My Grandfather (Papa) was June 14th, which happens to be my good friend, Raz's birthday. My Grandmother on my Dad's side who just passed was June 15th. My cousin, Joseph is June 28th. So, it's a busy busy month for birthdays for us.

Tonight we are celebrating my brother's birthday. I know he doesn't check my blog, so I'm okay posting this. We are surprising him for his 30th. His wife, Carrie did a lot of work to get this together, so I'm excited to see his reaction. We will be going to a local bar in Downtown Indy. Word has it that Gwen Stefani may show up for her after party. Apparently they are playing at Verizon Wireless Arena (will always be Deer Creek to me) and chose this bar for their after party. The party will take place in the VIP room. If Gwen does show up, I'll take a few pics.

My sisters' friend, Alex will be watching Lily and my niece, Cassie for us tonight. I'm a bit nervous. Not because she won't do a good job. I'm nervous that Lily will cry the whole time. But, I must trust that Alex can figure it all out. She is a nurse, so that helps ease some of my nervousness.

Right now Lily is down for her nap. She took awhile getting used to the Pack N Play we have for her. But, after a few minutes of fighting sleep, she got there. Oh, speaking of - I hear her on the monitor. Ah, such a quick nap. Nana is getting her right now so I can continue to blog.

Again, I do have some pictures of the family trip, but haven't taken the time to download them onto my Mom's computer. I promise to do so soon. Perhaps when everyone is at work on Monday.

I was just reading David's blog and will have to have him show me how to jazz up my site! She has the cutest picture of our dog in our backyard. We have let the yard go to seed in attempt to thicken up the grass. Hope that works!

I don't hear the baby crying, so hopefully she went back to sleep - she has at least another 15 minutes of good sleep.

I had a weird health issue this morning. The back of both of my legs were cramping up and quite sore. It was almost like a throbbing feeling. It got so bad I felt like I couldn't walk, sit or stand comfortably. I took some ibuprofen and rubbed some icy-hot cream on my legs. I feel much better now, but cannot figure out what would cause this. Hopefully it won't come back.

Better go for now - I hear word of going to Steak N Shake for dinner. We do not have Steak N Shake in Colorado, so every time I come to Indy, we go! yum yum
