Hoosierland
We are currently in Hoosierland. I have many many many pictures from our Christmas and just hanging out with the family. I will work on uploading those soon. Unfortunately, my Mom's computer is located in the room Lily sleeps, so I will have to wait until my folks get back from work. Then I can have them watch the Lilypad while I upload some photos. I will blog more later...

Early Christmas
David, Lily and I celebrated Christmas last Sunday morning. We will be away for Christmas this year, so we decided to have a little celebration here at the house, just our little family.Of course at this age, Lily was more interested in the wrapping (particularly ribbons) than the actual gift, but it was fun to watch her open her gifts!
Teeth update: I noticed this morning that Lily is getting more teeth. She currently has her two bottom teeth. This time she has an incisor coming in on the left. Normally the front two teeth come in first, but she has decided to do it a bit different.

Welcome Ian!

My friends Melanie and James had their little boy on December 12th.
Ian Gregory!
7lbs 10oz
21 inches
Melanie was expecting Ian to be a girl (was going to be named Jillian), but were surprised to find out Jillian was really Ian! David and I went to the hospital to bring some gender neutral clothing for Ian (I remember seeing Melanie's nursery closet full of pink; so hopefully we can round up some more boyish clothing). Tomorrow we plan to bring them some dinner. I had a few folks bring dinner to us and I remember that being so helpful!
Congratulations Melanie and James! Welcome to the wonderful world of parenthood!

Big Girl, Amelia Studio, Vicks and Happy
Yesterday as Lily was eating her lunch, I thought to myself; "Where is my baby?" She looked like a little girl to me.
Love my new coffee cup and coffee cozy sleeve? I plan to use this sleeve instead of the cardboard sleeves you get at certain coffee shops. I got this at Amelia Studios via Etsy. This is my friend Amy's creation. Please stop by her shop and support her little business! She only has a few items left; so hurry hurry!Ames, I love your creativity and your artistic abilities! I look forward to seeing more items posted at your shop!!
Okay, I am not one to hang onto things. I am the opposite of a pack rat. If I haven't used something in more than a year. It's outta here. I cannot stand old clutter. However, I realized that I have had my jar of Vicks VapoRub for about 20 years now. I can almost bet this jar on the left was from the '80s. I only use Vicks when I have a cold and have a hard time breathing (fought another darn cold last weekend). This jar is almost done, so I picked out a new one. Boy, what a change! The old jar is made of glass and the new jar is plastic. I smelled both jars and the older one has more of a punch to it. Sometimes things just don't change for the better.
Lily's newest thing is raising her hands up and looking to us to yell "Happy!" hee hee

Creativity, Diva Pointer and Lunch boxes
Last weekend I took a canvas class with Kim. I love love love to do artsy projects - but I don't really think of myself as very creative. I tend to get ideas from other folks. I wish I had an eye for creative projects, but I just don't. These are the results of the canvas class. I really had a fun night working on this project! This is hanging in my craft/work room...otherwise known as "the green room". I plan to do some more on my own, now that I know the basic technique.
Lily's new thing is pointing. It's fun to go to Target with her, as she will point to everything! She is quite a curious girl!
The night of the canvas class, my friend Betsy picked up her developed pictures and they were handing out mini lunch boxes. Betsy gave her lunch box to Lily and now this is one of Lily's favorite toys.Thursday, November 22, 2007
Giving Thanks
Happy Thanksgiving!
Today was a great day. David and I cooked and baked all day long. (we are both exhausted now).
Lily was a good kid, although she kept getting woken up from her naps by a certain puppy dog we have. Any time someone comes to the door, Maya barks like crazy. People just happened to visit during her two naps and Lily just didn't get in a good nap.
We had all the traditional food with a few additions.
Grandma and Grandpa D came over and David's buddy, Nathan joined us too.
I have many things to be grateful for: family, friends, health and home. I'm especially grateful for my new little daughter!

Friend's Wedding and the Phone
My friend Peter got married this September. Unfortunately I was not able to attend, but have received a couple of pictures of their day. I met Peter at Indiana University and have kept in touch since. He now lives in Wyoming and I'm hoping one day we can trek up there and meet his new wife. Congrats again Peter!!Lily's new thing is taking her toys, food, anything she can get her hands on and pretending it's a phone. She will put the object to her ear and say "ewhoa? Dada!" I guess all her calls come from her Daddy! :)

Dirty Mail
Today David and I took a quick walk around the neighborhood. As we were coming home, we went to check our mail (we have a community mailbox). I saw a package for David with a suspicious sender.Who the heck is "Wurkin Stiffs?" What did David order?
Come to find, these are collar stays. As my husband says, my mind is in the gutter! ha ha!

Hats

I crocheted matching skull caps for Lily and me last week. The pattern for Lily's was for "little kids", but the hat is still too big. This is the pattern. These are very easy to make and fast. I made one in two nights. I probably could have finished it within one night, but I choose to read a little bit too. I must choose my alone time activities at night wisely!

It was a friends weekend...
Today we went to Mamma Karen and Caoimhe's house. We brought our Halloween costumes as we never got the kids together for Halloween. Caoimhe did not want to have her costume on, so a 2 out of 3 costume picture isn't so bad.
Betsy and LisaSaturday night I went to "Open Stamp Night" at Kim's house. It was Kim's birthday. Duh, I didn't take a picture of Kim with her balloons and goodies. These are my good friends, Betsy and Lisa - fellow stampers!
Saturday afternoon, my good friend Jennifer came down from Longmont, CO and we got to have lunch with her at Mollica's Deli.
Katie and PollyFriday night, we celebrated Polly's birthday by going to Paravicini's on the West side of Colorado Springs. It was tasty!!

Fun with Dad and Sharing
David is really an awesome Father to Lily. Lily's bath nights are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If David is home, he always offers to give her a bath. Lily loves it! Last night I heard her splashing around and laughing. My current favorite sound - baby laughs. This is a good time for me as well as it gives me a few minutes to myself to read, crochet, knit, stamp or play on my computer. Last night David made Lily some pigtails!
Lily has been sharing her food with Mom and Dad (and of course our dog, Maya). It's very sweet!

Halloween to come...
Hi All!
Unfortunately, we did not get to celebrate Halloween in our house. We are all sick! I'm feeling loads better today. I had some stomach bug and was nasty sick on Halloween day. Lily was sick Halloween night and now my husband isn't feeling so hot. So, the costume will have to be put on later and pictures will be taken then. Oh well, Lily is too small to really understand, so if we are to miss a fun holiday, now is the time!
More blogging when we all feel better...

1950s, The Neighborhood Pet and The Tongue
Today I did lots of cleaning. I mean lots of cleaning! I spent a good 3-4 hours cleaning today. David took Lily to see the Grandparents while I slaved away at the house. Okay, it wasn't that bad. But seriously, I never saw myself in this role while growing up. I thought I would be the ultra-feminist who focused on her career, who maybe got married and might have had children. Never did I think I'd be a stay-at-home-Mom. Life changes though and I love the fact that I get to watch my little one grow up. As for the cleaning, I actually asked for this time to myself. It was good to move around, listen to my music and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done. I feel so much better when my house is clean.
While cleaning, I noticed something in our front yard. Is it a dog? Nope - it's a fox! I actually saw this guy two nights ago as well. Didn't see these much in my home state of Indiana! From time to time we will see foxes just walking down the sidewalk like they are a regular pedestrian, it's quite funny!

Lily has found her tongue. This was basically what she did all night long. Too funny!

Laundry Fun and Hard Days
Lily loves to help her Daddy and Mommy with laundry. She does this cute trick of moving a piece of clothes from one side of her body to the other. She's a big helper!!

Today has been a bit of a challenge for me. Lily is in some funky mood and doesn't want to nap. I'm trying hard to just be calm and know this is a phase and she will eventually nap again. This is my 3rd attempt today..there are some fussies - but it seems to be quiet now. I'm hoping for a good 2-3 hour nap - she sure does need it! Spoke too soon - the crying begins again...

April and Brad's Wedding
My friends April and Brad got married Saturday night. It was a beautiful ceremony! On Monday they are off to the Bahamas for the honeymoon. So lucky, as today we got our first bought of some snow! Brrr! Congratulations April and Brad! May you have a long, happy, loving and prosperous life together!

Houston, We Have Teeth
Lily's two bottom teeth are here! I would send you a picture, but she is being quite modest with them. I could feel them this morning, but took awhile for me to actually see them.
I'm now convinced this is why she had a fever earlier this week. The Doc thought she had a small cold, but I never really saw any signs of a cold. Oh well - better to be safe I guess.
Once she is more open with her teeth, I'll post a picture.
I'm way way way excited for this milestone :)
Lily's crawling is doing better too! Last night she crawled across the room to get to a toy - Maya's (our dog's) toy, but hey, it was movement. It's a mix between real crawling and Army, belly style. But, very cute to watch.
October is a big month for Lily - waving bye-bye, teeth and crawling!
Hope you all are having a great weekend!

TGIF
Yippee for Friday!
Today is my friend Liz's Birthday!! Happy Birthday Liz!!
This week has been a long one. With Lily being sick, just made the days drag on. I love weekends as my husband can hang out with us all day. (and I get some breaks from being a full time Mommy!)
Today we had "Biggest Loser" at my house. I lost a bit over 1 pound!!

Emailing
Lily is feeling much better these days. Turns out, she had a small cold. We ended up taking Lily to the Doc's on Tuesday. Apparently, her ears were a bit red, so they put her on some meds to prevent a full on ear infection.
Lily is fascinated with our laptops. I let her play on mine today and she decided to email her Nana...

Teeth?
Lily hasn't been feeling so great since early afternoon Sunday. She has a low grade fever and is just lower energy. We are hoping it's her teeth. She is eating well and no signs of flu or cold. Lily is still without teeth, so perhaps this is the beginning of getting her first teeth??
