Just living life

Nothing too much to blog about lately. Just living our lives right now. It's more of a routine these days. Jack is sleeping about the same times each day and that helps. He even slept 7 hours straight last night!! Sometimes I'm lucky and Lily and Jack will nap at the same time! I just got the Twilight series from my friend and I'm thinking of starting it soon. I have another book to read for bookclub and I believe I should read that first as I know Twilight can be addicting!

Colorado's weather has been crazy. These pictures were taken last week when the weather was quite nice. Lily was out playing with water (Jack in the shade hanging out). Izzy came over and the girls played with bubbles! Today, we had snow on the ground.

Lily with her Mickey ears (used to be David's obviously).
The messy face was dinner tonight. This is a combination of tomato soup, peanut butter and jelly toast, a kiwi and chocolate cake.

And Mr. Jack!

My Saturday

My Saturday turned out really well. It didn't start off so hot. David had to do some work and went in at 6am. I figured he'd be there for a good portion of the morning and possibly into the afternoon. I'm used to David being here to manage the kids in the morning with me. I prepared for getting the kids ready all by myself. It was a bit of a challenge, but I did it. I was due to meet up with my friends Cat and LaRain for breakfast around 9:15am. They were scheduled to get pedicures afterwards. Since I had the kids, I told them I could only do breakfast. I started the process of getting the kids ready around 8:45am and with many missteps (spilled drinks, cleaning up food on the floor, and a new outfit for Lily as she somehow got water all over herself) I finally left around 10 after 9 o'clock. I noticed that my car was very very low on gasoline and considering it was snowing outside, I decided I better tank up. I finally arrived at the restaurant around 9:30. I guess not too bad for all the craziness. Once at the restaurant, I realized I hadn't left David a message that we were out. I pulled out my phone and called David. Right as I called, David walked into the restaurant! He got off work much earlier than expected and he came to get the kids so I can get a pedicure too! Thanks David!!! This really lifted my spirits. I was feeling a bit blue the last few days. Just feeling overwhelmed with Motherhood and feeling like I hadn't had a break from it for a long time. This was just what I needed. Some pampering and girl friend time.

Another treat came along when the kids both slept at the same time for almost 3 hours! David and I actually got to have an adult conversation. I miss my husband and our chats! So, today was a good day despite my pessimism about it this morning.

Here are some fun pictures we took of the kids...

Lily had her first "owie" on her toe. I think the bandaid lasted maybe 5 minutes?

Floor time!

Snow days and the Bullet

So, it's April and we are dealing with snow. Very common here in Colorado. I'm hoping this is the last blast of snow this season. I'm so very ready for Spring. Lily's school was cancelled because of the up and coming snow. In my opinion, the snow wasn't all the bad and I don't think it was necessary to cancel school. David normally works an afternoon shift and today he worked the normal day shift. Therefore, I had the kids all day all by myself. I was trying to think of something fun and different to do with Lily. Normally she plays just fine on her own, but I just wanted to do something different. I went downstairs and pulled out some of my stamping paper, rounded scissors and a glue stick. Lily and I made cards! Lily was quite excited to use scissors. She was getting then hang of it by the time we were done.

Snow!! (this was actually taken while my sisters were here. But, the snow looks about the same today)

Jack has acquired the baby mullet or Bullet. Lily had this as well. Do all babies get this? Or is this just our family tradition?

Easter 2009

We had an easy Easter this year. We didn't do the big dinner or fancy desserts. Perhaps we will do something a bit more traditional next year! My sisters were in town and I just enjoyed spending time with them.
Lily looked for her basket and found it right away. The Easter Bunny will have to be more creative with hiding the basket next year. My sisters and I made rice crispy chocolate dipped eggs! They are tasty!

Aunt Christie and Bonnie!

Christie......Bonnie

To my surprise, my sisters, Christie and Bonnie came to visit me for their Spring Break. I was so so so so so excited to see them. I had no idea they were coming. Even with my brother asking me earlier in the day "when are Bonnie and Christie getting there?" Yes, I am slow and I thought "Oh, Matthew must be thinking he's talking to our Mom or just tired or something." ha ha!
Anyways, it was so very nice to have them here and I miss them tremendously!

Being a Mommy

Today I went swimming with Lily for her swim class. This was the first time in a LONG time I have been in a pool, let alone a bathing suit. I was a bit self conscious, but I had a lot of fun and so glad I did it.

Right now both kids are napping. Yippee! It's always a nice treat when they sleep at the same time.

Having both the kids by myself during the day is getting a bit easier, but still probably the hardest job I've ever had. Oprah's show yesterday was about the truth of Motherhood. I definitely felt better after watching the show. I am sure not alone when I feel overwhelmed, frustrated, tired, bored and not quite myself. I do not regret having children. I love having these little guys in my life. It's just nice to know that it's not all bliss and I shouldn't feel like it's all wonderful. I realize I am setting too high expectations and find myself disappointed. I'm learning to lighten up!

Belly time....The kids and me

Hanging out in the morning

Jack today....Lily back when she was 2 months. They do look like brother and sister!

Last week I got to see some of my girl friends. This is LaRain and Nicole having baby time.
LaRain is pregnant and just found out she is having a girl! Congrats LaRain!!

My friend Andrea is also pregnant and having a girl. Congrats! I got to see Andrea yesterday after a long time and darn, didn't get any pictures.

David was fooling around with Lily's sunglasses. He calls this pose "Pulling. It. Off."
I guess Jack is confident enough in his babyhood to wear pink!

Big and Bigger

In just a few weeks Jack grew like a weed!!

The first picture was taken at the beginning of February. The second picture was taken at the end of March.
