David, Lily and I had a busy weekend.
On Friday, I was supposed to attend a Fondue Party, but backed out as my sciatica was really bothering me. It was quite bothersome this weekend and still is today. ho hum. Hopefully Baby Boy will move from where ever his is and gets off that nerve soon.
On Saturday, I had some girlfriends come over for food, drinks, and conversation. I pulled out some of my Lemongrass stuff too for those who wanted to do mini manicures, facials, etc. We all just ended up around the table chatting and eating. It was a perfect night!
While I had the girls over, David went over to his friend Rik's house. Roger was there too (their wives were at my house!) He came home sounding like he had a really good time too.
Sunday we had David's good friend, Brian and his wife, Gina over. They have 3 little girls and they played so well with Lily. It was a fun weekend and thanks to all the good friends I got to see this weekend!

Autumn
I cannot believe it's officially Autumn now. Summer really flew by for me. Today we are going to try to hit the park. I have a bookclub meeting today, but it falls very close to Lily's nap. Maybe we'll go for just a few minutes?? I didn't read the book, so I feel bad attending when I can't really participate.
I have another bookclub Thursday night. I actually read the book for this club and am looking forward to going. Saturday I'm having a Girlfriends Get-together/Facial Party. I have a small group of women coming and should be a fun time!
Here are some pics from the last few days.

Memed
My friend Karen memed me. At first, I was like "what is that?" I am so so so not into what is the latest and what is fashionable. I usually hear things from my husband or friends. Like the word "Staycation". I believe my friend Amy used it once in her blog perhaps? Then I heard it again on the radio. Not sure where that term started, it could be 50 years old for all I know, I'm just not hip to being cool. ha ha
Anywho: I must give 6 quirks about myself and/or family.
Here we go:
#1: Karen mentioned that her daughter, Caoimhe does this as well and thought it funny. Lily knows who Barack Obama is. When we see him on tv, she will scream "Bama!". That's my liberal hippie toddler! As Karen mentioned, we live in city o'conservative and I love throwing out the liberalisms in public.
#2: My husband is a better cleaner than me. However, I do not like clutter and feel better when the house is picked up, so I think I tend to pick up the house more than David. But again, I believe when David does clean, he is more detailed about it.
#3: Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the dumbest things. Like going to the bathroom. The other day I was thinking to myself, "I have to use the restroom several times a day for the rest of my life!" What a pain in the rear! Yes, that overwhelmed me. I know, strange. I admitted this to my husband and he gave me the look you are probably giving your computer screen. ha ha!
#4: Everytime I put on a shirt, the tag in the back is always sticking out. I can't tell you how many times my husband or family or friends will tuck in the tag for me. I've even had perfect strangers tuck in the tag for me. Perhaps I should invest in some tagless t-shirts?
#5: I love love love organization. I am not the most organized person, however, I get quite happy and excited over organizing my house/life. While Lily was napping today, I organized my bathroom so there is almost nothing on the counter. I also organized my stamps in the stamping area in the basement. In the words of Tom, organizing completes me.
#6: I love food, but do not like to taste it afterwards. I must either brush my teeth or take a breath mint after eating and drinking.
Bonus meme: I tend to end sentences in a preposition. Sometimes I cannot think of how to form the sentence any other way. Must be that Indiana thing.
Many of my blogger friends have done their Meme's, but I'll ask Andrea and Jenny to do a Meme as well. (did I even use the word "meme" correctly?")
Today Lily had her 2nd day of school. The teachers told us she was sad for about 10/15 minutes and the rest of the day, she did great! I got my first art work back from her today. I may have to keep that one. I'm not much of a keeper of things, but it will be fun to go back and show Lily her very first art project at school. I have already made a folder in my filing cabinet for her school stuff, so I'll just stick it in there. (organization! love it!)
Update on the PROTECT our Children Act. My Senator, Ken Salazar emailed me back that he does support the legislation. I am sure it was a form letter, but it was nice to get acknowledged. I must say my other Senator (whom I'm not the biggest fan of) sent nothing, not even a "we got your email and thank you". Oh well, he is out the door this coming year anyway.

Protect Our Children Act
Yesterday I was trying to get caught up on my Oprah shows. I didn't watch any while in Indiana. The one that interested me most was the Protect our Children Act show. This show was so much more disturbing than I would have ever imagined. Babies, yes, I said babies, toddlers and children are being raped and molested while being videotaped in this country for the sick pleasure of many many people. I balled my eyes out almost the entire show.
There is legislation going to the Senate within the month of September.
Please please please write to your Senators in your state to urge them to pass: The PROTECT our Children Act: Senate Bill 1738
You can get a sample letter from Oprah's website at:
http://www.oprah.com/article/oprahshow/20080911_tows_predators
Please do this, it took me under 5 minutes to write to both my Senators. No child should ever have to endure such violence. These people who are committing these crimes must be found so they cannot hurt anymore children.

Trip to Hoosierland: The Last Couple of Days
The last night we were there, we went to Matthew and Carrie's house for a cookout (Hoosiers don't say barbecue, they call them cookouts). This was the very first time I've had a bratwurst. (At least that I can remember) My family was shocked I had never had a bratwurst before. I did have one and they are okay. Not my first choice at a BBQ, but I'd have one again.
While Mama ate her first bratwurst, Lily had PB&J and from the mess on her face, I guess she enjoyed it!

Friday night, my brother Matthew and my sister-in-law Carrie came over for dinner. Lily and I got to spend some time with my nieces' Cassidy and Kaitlyn.
Baby Kaitlyn
On Saturday night, we did the "Pizza Train". This trains picks you up in Noblesville and drops you off in Tipton. There is a pizza joint called, Pizza King. Apparently, they run the train on Saturday nights during the warmer months. It was quite a popular event. It was fun to ride a train and eat yummie pizza.

Trip to Hoosierland: The First Couple of Days
Lily and I are back in Colorado. It was a fun trip to Indiana to see the family. Lily really enjoyed spending time with her Nana and Babba and her aunties and uncles. I enjoyed it immensely and was sad to leave. I was quite happy to get back to my husband though. I missed him lots. (I also missed the low humidity and fresh nights of Colorado. However, the weather in Indy was quite nice save Hurricane Ike's appearance as a Depression through Indiana.)
Lily in the car with Mom's sunglasses:
On Wednesday, we went driving around Indy for a reminiscing trip. My sisters, Christie and Bonnie took me to my old house (one I lived in from about age 3 to 6ish). We also saw my old high school and my Nana and Papa's old house.
My old house! I remembered the yard being much much bigger. Funny how big things are when you are a child and when you go back to see it as an adult, it's a bit different. My bedroom was the window on the far left.
After having lunch with my Dad on Thursday, the sisters and I took Lily out for an ice cream and Handles.

While Lily Sleeps...
Lily and I are in Indiana this week. We will be back to CO on Tuesday. Sorry for no posts, I don't seem to use the computer much while I'm here. I've been using my time to spend with the fam.

1st Day of "School" aka MMO
Today, Lily had her first day of "school". It's actually a Mom's Morning Out. She'll be going each Friday for 3 hours. I must admit, I was a bit nervous and sad to drop her off, but she did well and it will be a good experience for her. The teachers told us that Lily had a few sad moments and she kept looking for us, but I know that will get better.

Then David took me out to lunch at Salsa Brava. This is the 1st time we have had a meal just the two of us in oh so long.

Curls and Cookies
I love after Lily gets a bath as her hair is so curly afterward. David has very very curly hair and mine is wavy, so she was bound to get a bit of curl. It does flatten out after sleeping though.
David made these cookies inspired by Amy. They are quite nummy. However, I do not like the extra salt sprinkles on the cookies. My palate is quite sensitive to salt. I almost never salt my food. I tend to only use salt when it's called for in a recipe. However, if you try this recipe, I would at least salt one to see if you like it. David really enjoyed the added salt.
