Jack at 18 months

While looking at my blog from the past, I realized I had a blog for Lily at 18 months. To be a fair Mommy, I will post on some items for Jack now that he has reached this milestone.

Jack is all boy! He loves to run and climb and be active.
His favorite past times:
  • Being outside. He gives us his shoes and says "shoes. outside". He could spend all day out there if we let him.
  • Loves sprinklers. He gets excited when our next door neighbors' sprinklers go off each night. He even found one of the sprinkler heads and asked "'gain?"
  • He could live on bottled milk alone. We encourage solid foods and most days he has some, but he must prefers his bottle of whole milk. My goal is to move him to a sippy cup here soon. I see a fight on my hands.
  • Speaking of...he has quite the temper. He normally is a sweet little guy, but when he isn't happy, you definitely know about it.
  • Alternatively, he is one of the sweetest babies! He loves to cuddle and give out hugs and kisses. I hope this sweetness stays through adulthood.
  • He's starting to say more words. He has told David, "Thank you" and "Goldfish, Dada?". I missed these events. Hope to hear them soon.
  • He loves his big sister Lily. He will randomly go up to her and give her a big hug. They play fairly well together.
  • He will climb onto anything and everything.

Love you Jack Jack!! You are and will always be my little buddy!

June!

For my birthday I requested to go bowling with the family. This was Lily's first time bowling! She loved it, especially the bowling shoes. She was sad she couldn't take them home. I loved the bumper bowling as that allowed me to break 100!

Splash Park! Kids had a great time - will definitely go back.

I think David's hat looks mighty good on Lily!

I had a late birthday party this last Sunday. Had some girlfriends stop by for breakfast. Thanks Ladies! I really enjoyed spending time with you!! Love you all!

Hanging out with the husband - really need to do this more often!

down 30!

My gorgeous friends at Raz's birthday party!
Emma, Raz, Christine, me and Regina

So, I'm now down 30 lbs on my weight loss journey. I need 5 more pounds to be considered a lifetime member with Weight Watchers. This means if I stay within my recommended weight range, I don't have to pay to attend the meetings anymore! This will be a huge savings! I'm hoping to get these last 5 lbs off by end of July!!

It just has to get better from here

The last few months have been somewhat challenging for David and me. We had Jack's head banging incident. That is a bit better these days, although he still bangs from time to time. David installed a padding all around Jack's crib, so that makes it safer when he does bang. Ever since our Kansas City trip, Jack's sleep schedule is a bit off. Some nights he sleeps just fine and other nights he will wake up and cry as many as 5 times at night. (such as last night). We also are having lots of diaper failures with Jack's cloth diapers. We are now doing paper diapers until we can figure out what is going on there. I have stripped the diapers and am not sure what else I can do to increase the absorption. I have a call into our diaper lady to see what she recommends. Cleaning up pee all the time just isn't my idea of fun.

And to top things off, our renters decided to stop paying their rent. We spent the last two weeks going through the eviction process. The condo is now on the market and we are praying to any and all Gods that it sells shortly. (For those of you who didn't know, David bought a condo way before we got married. We weren't able to sell it a few years back and decided to rent it out. We now have gone through 2 bad renters. This whole landlord business is just not for me).
David and I are hoping things turn around soon - we really need to catch a break!

One year wiser

Today I'm 36. The older I get, the younger my ages seem!
What I know now that I certainly didn't know then:
  • Enjoy life as much as possible - you just don't know how long you'll be here.
  • It doesn't matter what you look like. People will love you just the same.
  • Other peoples' opinions do not create your truth.
  • Wait for the right guy, even if it takes awhile.
  • The things you have don't make who you are.
  • Take a bit of time out each day for yourself.
  • Sit in the quiet from time to time.
  • Stay in touch with friends as much as you can. Long lasting friendships are wonderful!
  • Try not to be judgmental of anyone's life - you cannot completely understand someone until you have lived her life.
  • It's okay to let things go.
  • Coffee is nectar of the gods!
  • Enjoy your babies while they are tiny, it sure doesn't last long.
  • Helping others really does make you feel good.
  • Go at least one day a week without makeup.
  • Learn a new skill every so often.
  • Do not utter the phrase "Well, I'm just to old to..."
Life is looking pretty good from 36!

Bikes and Dresses

This last month Jack went on his first bike ride! I think this summer David and I will be taking the kids out on our bikes more often!!

I have such a girlie girl - I love it. Her favorite activity is playing dress up. Her favorite clothes? Dresses!
