1950s, The Neighborhood Pet and The Tongue

Today I did lots of cleaning. I mean lots of cleaning! I spent a good 3-4 hours cleaning today. David took Lily to see the Grandparents while I slaved away at the house. Okay, it wasn't that bad. But seriously, I never saw myself in this role while growing up. I thought I would be the ultra-feminist who focused on her career, who maybe got married and might have had children. Never did I think I'd be a stay-at-home-Mom. Life changes though and I love the fact that I get to watch my little one grow up. As for the cleaning, I actually asked for this time to myself. It was good to move around, listen to my music and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done. I feel so much better when my house is clean.

While cleaning, I noticed something in our front yard. Is it a dog? Nope - it's a fox! I actually saw this guy two nights ago as well. Didn't see these much in my home state of Indiana! From time to time we will see foxes just walking down the sidewalk like they are a regular pedestrian, it's quite funny!

Lily has found her tongue. This was basically what she did all night long. Too funny!

My Meez

Meez 3D avatar avatars games

Meez is a fun animation ID, 3D style. This is the closest I could get to Lily and me. I guess this would be us at Tuesday playgroup! :)

Laundry Fun and Hard Days

Lily loves to help her Daddy and Mommy with laundry. She does this cute trick of moving a piece of clothes from one side of her body to the other. She's a big helper!!

Today has been a bit of a challenge for me. Lily is in some funky mood and doesn't want to nap. I'm trying hard to just be calm and know this is a phase and she will eventually nap again. This is my 3rd attempt today..there are some fussies - but it seems to be quiet now. I'm hoping for a good 2-3 hour nap - she sure does need it! Spoke too soon - the crying begins again...

April and Brad's Wedding

My friends April and Brad got married Saturday night. It was a beautiful ceremony! On Monday they are off to the Bahamas for the honeymoon. So lucky, as today we got our first bought of some snow! Brrr! Congratulations April and Brad! May you have a long, happy, loving and prosperous life together!

Houston, We Have Teeth

Lily's two bottom teeth are here! I would send you a picture, but she is being quite modest with them. I could feel them this morning, but took awhile for me to actually see them.
I'm now convinced this is why she had a fever earlier this week. The Doc thought she had a small cold, but I never really saw any signs of a cold. Oh well - better to be safe I guess.
Once she is more open with her teeth, I'll post a picture.
I'm way way way excited for this milestone :)

Lily's crawling is doing better too! Last night she crawled across the room to get to a toy - Maya's (our dog's) toy, but hey, it was movement. It's a mix between real crawling and Army, belly style. But, very cute to watch.

October is a big month for Lily - waving bye-bye, teeth and crawling!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

TGIF

Yippee for Friday!

Today is my friend Liz's Birthday!! Happy Birthday Liz!!

This week has been a long one. With Lily being sick, just made the days drag on. I love weekends as my husband can hang out with us all day. (and I get some breaks from being a full time Mommy!)
Today we had "Biggest Loser" at my house. I lost a bit over 1 pound!!

Emailing

Morning Emailing

Lily is feeling much better these days. Turns out, she had a small cold. We ended up taking Lily to the Doc's on Tuesday. Apparently, her ears were a bit red, so they put her on some meds to prevent a full on ear infection.
Lily is fascinated with our laptops. I let her play on mine today and she decided to email her Nana...

Teeth?

Cuddling with Daddy

Lily hasn't been feeling so great since early afternoon Sunday. She has a low grade fever and is just lower energy. We are hoping it's her teeth. She is eating well and no signs of flu or cold. Lily is still without teeth, so perhaps this is the beginning of getting her first teeth??

Until We Meet Again...

My new friend Jessica is moving to Washington DC on Wednesday. She and her husband and two daughters will be in DC for a few months, then they are off to Japan! Jessica's husband snagged a wonderful opportunity to work with the Japanese Government.

We had a going away dinner for her Saturday night at Amanda's Fonda Mexican Restaurant on the west side of Colorado Springs.
I just met Jessica this year when Lily was about 3 weeks old. Actually, I take that back. I met Jessica back in May of 2006, but didn't really get to chat much with her until our playgroups together. I met Jessica through my friend Nicole.
Jessica, I'm sad I only got to know you for a few months and I wish you well in your journeys!!

Jessica is on the end in the pink...

9 months old

Lily 9 months in belly....

Lily 9 months today!

Lily is 9 months old today!! She has been in this world as long as she was in the belly! We went to the Doctors today. Lily is good and healthy! She weighs 18lbs and she is 27 inches. She went from 70th percentile in height at 6 months to 40th percentile today. Perhaps she is destined to be a bit shorter (like her Mommy) :)

Baby Shower

We threw a baby shower for my friend Melanie on Saturday. It was a lot of fun! This was a surprise shower for Melanie. We told her to come over for just a brunch...hee hee.
Melanie is due in December! Only two more months to go. My advice to her was to see every movie she can, go out to eat as much as she can and sleep in!

Adventures with Cloth Diapers

I am venturing into the Cloth Diaper world. I researched this while pregnant, but it has taken me 9 months to really try them out. Overall, I really like them! I bought 8 Bum Genius diapers, which is about a day's worth. I still use Pampers over night. I have to wash them every night, which I don't mind right now. My only challenge at the moment are the poopy diapers. You'd think I'd be used to poopy by now, but guess not! With Pampers (my normal disposable), you just wipe the butt, put the wipes in the diaper and throw them away. Easy! With cloth diapers and disposable wipes, it's a bit more challenging. I am reading that cloth wipes are the way to go with cloth diapers. My girlfriends, Cat and Karen are helping me sew some cloth wipes and coming up with a "juice" to squirt on the cloth wipes for cleaning the rear. Cat is also teaching me to sew, so in the future I can make my own! Yes, I don't know how to sew. I have wanted to learn for awhile now, just didn't take the time to ask anyone for help. My Mom said I can have her sewing machine, so I will pick that up over Christmas! My friends, Karen, Cat and Amy are awesome seamstresses and I aspire to do more creative things with sewing!
