Jack is 5!

Jack you are Five Years old! Half a decade old man!
You are basically done with your love of Lightning McQueen (moment of silence)
You like Toothless from 'How to Train Your Dragon'
You love to color and color every day
You can write your name in all capitals
You can count to 100 with just a little bit of help
You enjoy Pre-K and your best friend is Luke C.
Your teachers' names are Mrs. Burton and Mrs. Miller
You can read a few words now
You still love chocolate
Your favorite color changes - red, orange, blue - depends on the day
You are shy
You are quite talkative to those with whom you are comfortable
You love when Daddy and I read to you
Your laugh is so contagious
You are kind and generous
You are all around a sweet little boy and I love you to the moon and back!
I could hug you forever Boo!

Changes on the Job Front

At the end of July, I was laid off from my beloved job. Well, the job itself had changed and the company I worked for was bought out. I didn't particularly care for the new company nor their way of treating part-time employees. I saw this lay off coming and I wasn't particularly happy with the new company. Even with this foresight, I am still finding myself very sad for my old job. It really was a perfect job for the time I had it. It had great potential for me and my career, but sometimes life doesn't turn out the way we plan - okay, life never turns out the way we plan.

The last two weeks I've been madly searching for a new job. I have updated my resume and contacted my fellow HR friends to let them know I'm on the job hunt. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm making myself crazy. I am having a hard time doing fun and relaxing things during the day as I feel I must be working instead. Even know my job was only 12 hours/week, I'm spending way more time looking for a job than I actually worked at my job. So...starting this afternoon, my goal is to enjoy my time off. Enjoy the time I have with my kids. I may never have an opportunity like this again. I will probably still be sad for awhile for my old job. I am sure that will lessen as time goes on. Perhaps this lay off will bring me something I would have never received had I still been working. The last time I got laid off in 2002, the next job I had was my first HR job. That was definitely a blessing in disguise and for one I'm forever grateful.

Here's to having a bit of fun and relaxation!

Haircut - Bangs

So a couple of months ago, Lily decided she wanted bangs. She cut them herself! After we discovered said bangs, Lily had to pay for a professional cut out of her allowance. I guess all girls go through this. I cut my own bangs once to a disastrous result. However, this haircut happened in 7th grade for me. Did I mention it was the day before school pictures?

Lily's styling. I have to say, she did a fairly good job.

A new kind of card

I realized it's my brother's birthday coming up this weekend. Happy Birthday Matthew! I normally make my own cards (don't worry, I haven't stopped making cards), but I thought this time I'd be a bit different. I used Shutterfly.com and it was very easy!

Amy's Visit 2013

My college best friend and her family came to for a visit this weekend. I loved having Amy here. It made me realize how much I miss hanging out with her. I met Amy our senior year in high school. We started hanging out more the summer between high school and college. She was my roommate for two years at Indiana University. She's been my friend in good times and bad and even when I wasn't so nice to be around. Thank you Ames! Miss you tons! Hope to see you very soon.

Spring Break-Kansas City-Indiana 2013

This year, for Spring Break, we drove to Indianapolis. We got to spend some time with my good friend, Amy in Kansas City as well. Thank you Amy for letting us crash at your place not once, but twice!

We watched IU (lose) at Britton Tavern in Indy during the Sweet 16.

I was able to meet up with a childhood friend, Tiffany! I knew Tiff when we sang together in the Indianapolis Children's Choir. It had been about 23 years since I saw her last.
