While David is in Vegas...

This weekend David is visiting his Mom in Vegas. Last weekend, I went to Denver with my friend, Nicole for a Mommies-weekend-off trip. We ate at the Tag restaurant off of the 16th street mall, got our toes done and saw a movie. The next day we had brunch at the Corner Bakery. All in all, a great trip!

Last week I was dealing with strep throat - so not fun. I had strep as a child once. Hoping this is the last time. I have one more day of antibiotics and I'm done. I went all throughout my 20s without taking antibiotics and now I've had 3 rounds in just over a year.

This week Lily went to the dentist for the first time. No cavities! All is well. She does have an extra tooth, which David and I suspected. The x-rays didn't show an additional adult tooth, but the Dentist said it's possible that it's not showing on the x-ray and they will keep an eye on it. She also has a "deep bite" and they will keep an eye on that as well.

Jack is doing well. He's jibber jabbering more and saying a few words in his own style. He's addicted to his bottle unfortunately. I'm trying to figure out ways to get him weaned from the bottle. I give him his milk in a sippy and he gets angry with me and swats the sippy cup. I started him on a bottle to wean him from breastfeeding and that worked like a charm, now I have to get him to like a sippy cup.

Some of Jack's words are:
bottle = "boo boo dah"
down = um dah
Special Agent Oso (tv show) = goo goo
finished = "neh neh" while doing the sign for finished
Currently his name for me is "da da". He also calls David "da da".
He's very lovey lately too. He comes up to me several times a day to give me a hug. Just today, he went up to Lily and was hugging her too. I have to cherish those moments as I'm sure those won't last. But, who knows, they could get a long great all their lives. Here's hoping!

Since David is gone tonight, I picked up some pizza toppings to make homemade pizza (store bought crust though). I was planning on just getting a pizza, but they never have all the good toppings I like...so, making my own!

Just some pictures from this month...

I brought my camera to Denver and the only picture I took was the view from our hotel room. Argh, I meant to take some of Nicole and I out on the town. Guess I was having too much fun and forgot.

Easter 2010 and the Chicken Pox

Easter was laid back this year. We had a nice waffle and strawberries breakfast in the morning and took a nice walk through Garden of the Gods (I only got a little bit lost) in the afternoon.

Jack found his basket right away - I was pretty easy on him this year.

Lily finding her basket...

Lily came down with the Chicken Pox this week. We found these spots on her face on Easter Sunday. I first thought it might have been an allergy to either the candy or strawberries she had eaten that morning. She went to the doctor on Monday and the Doc confirmed chicken pox. She has been immunized and even had a booster at 2 years old. The Doc said some kids do get "breakthrough" chicken pox. This case was very mild and really, no complaining from Lily's end. She did have a fever the Thursday before Easter, but Lily said nothing was hurting her, she just wanted to rest and sleep a lot. I wish we had the vaccine when I was a kid.

Just some shots from this week. Jack can say "cheese" now when you take his picture.

Lily loves to play soccer in the house with our beach balls. I'm thinking I may have to sign her up for a soccer team!

Jack loves peanut butter sandwiches! I know, I know, I'm not supposed to give him peanut butter until age 21. But, we have no known food allergies in our family and Lily got peanut butter at age 15 months too and she is just fine. Hear hear to peanut butter!

April Fools

Been a bit of time since I have blogged. Life is moving along. I work 12 hours each week still and am really enjoying my job. I look forward to my work days. On the other days, I try really hard to have things to do with the kids. When the weather is nice, we tend to take walks and go to the park. On days like today, very windy, I took the kids to the drop-in daycare and did some Easter Bunny shopping. I'm focusing more on toys than candy this year. I got the kids one bigger toy and one smaller toy each. Not that they are in any need of toys - we have too many already - but I thought things other than food would be a good tradition. I also avoided the plastic eggs and grass this time. Maybe next year it will be more festive - I just don't want to deal with plastic grass all over the house.
Speaking of food...I am down 25 lbs now. These last 5 lbs have come off quite slowly, but they came off. I want to lose another 10 lbs. Hoping to achieve this by summer!

Jack can get up and down from the couch now. I find him up on the couch hanging out from time to time.

We had quite the snow storm last weekend!

Lily's been doing lots of stamping, painting and coloring....
She even wrote my name all by herself! I was quite excited about her writing out "Mom"!

Last weekend we colored eggs. I think Lily could have colored about a hundred - she really enjoyed it.
