I didn't think we'd be cutting Lily's hair for a long long time. It's still fairly short and thin. However, her hair in the back was longer and quite un-even. It ended up looking like a rat tail most of the time and I am just not a fan of rat tails. I took the cutting scissors into my own hands and cut off the tail. I was a bit sad to be cutting length, but I think it will grow out a little more evenly. Then when her hair really is long, we'll go for a professional cut as I am just not a hair stylist.
Tonight is Jack's overnight pulse ox test. I just know this time he will pass and we'll get off this stupid oxygen!!

Oxygen Days
The kids...

Today we went to the doctor's office for Jack's 2 month appointment. According to the Doctor, Jack didn't pass his night time pulse ox test last Thursday and needs to stay on oxygen at night. Yesterday, the nurse told me he'd have to be all full time, so this was good news. This Thursday he will have another night time test. We plan to stay up with him to ensure the little machine is working correctly. We have a sneaky suspicion that he didn't pass due to the machine flaking out on us quite a bit. We are going to keep a journal of the pulse ox numbers and times and when the machine stopped working for us. Here's hoping he is off full time on Friday!
It's been quite nice here in Colorado. David took Lily to the park for awhile and she enjoyed the swings. Those are her most favorite! Now that Jack is off O2 during the day, I may see if we can get out a little bit later this week. Perhaps a run to the closest Starbucks is in order!? I can get myself a mocha or latte and Lily can enjoy a steamed cow or hot cocoa. As much as Jack would love a coffee, he's still just on mama milk :)

This last month
February has been quite a month for us! We all got a cold, Jack was in the hospital, my sister came into town, and David and I went on a date!
Update on Jack: We are awaiting Jack's pulse ox test results from his over night test. He appeared to be above 90 all night, but we should find out more tomorrow. He was off his oxygen all day today and looks great. So nice to have my healthy boy back!

Tales from an 8th grade nothing
Facebook is a great thing. I have found so many people from my past there. I went to St. Lawrence Catholic school in Indianapolis for most of grade school and never really thought I'd see these people again after moving onto public high school. One of my classmates from St. Lawrence, Shannon posted our 8th grade graduation picture on her Facebook account. I'm in the front row all the way to the left with the big hair (Hey, it was the 80s), peach dress and very un-lady like pose.

Sister
As I mentioned before, my sister Bonnie and her hubby Mark are in town for a few days. I absolutely love having them here. I get to reconnect with my sister, and it's so nice having the extra hands to help out with the kids. They are treating us tonight. They are watching the kids so David and I can go on a date. This concept of a date is quite foreign to us. The only time we go out alone is if we hunt down a babysitter and pay them a crazy rate to be alone for a couple of hours. What happened to 2 bucks an hour? Oh well! Thanks Bonnie and Mark! You rock!!!

Update on Jack
Today we went back to the doctors to get Jack checked out. His lungs are good, no wheezing. Still lots of mucus and congestion though. He will be on oxygen until at least Monday. The oxygen company is coming out to do a pulse ox on him. He has to be above 90 while sleeping. During our time in the hospital, Jack could go about an hour without oxygen (while sleeping), then he started to dip into the 80s with his pulse ox. So, hopefully by Monday, he will be strong enough to keep his pulse ox up. Today at the doctor's office, his pulse ox was 97! Go Jack!!
Jack is still sleeping quite a bit and unfortunately, he is still spitting up lots of mucus. So, we have our floor covered in towels and blankets to catch the good stuff. Lots of laundry going on in our house. Hey, we are home, not in the hospital - I won't complain! This experience has made me really appreciate the overall health of my children!
Tomorrow, my sister Bonnie and her husband, Mark will be here for a few days. I'm so excited to have them around! I get to catch up with my sister and get a few extra hands to help out with the kiddos.

We are back home!
Jack is back home! Yippee!!
We got discharged early this afternoon. Jack is on oxygen. Just a minimal amount. We have to see his doctor on Wednesday and I'm hoping he can get off the oxygen by then. Jack is eating better and not coughing as much. He is definitely on the mend. He will most likely cough for a week or two more and during that time we need to stay away from little ones so this doesn't happen to anyone else. Unfortunately, while at the hospital, I noticed several other doors with the "RSV: please wear gloves and gowns when entering" warning. It's definitely that time of year.
Tonight David is going to take care of Jack for awhile so I can get some sleep. Those hospital reclining chairs just don't cut it. (Thanks David!)
Thanks again for everyone's support and for those who helped us out. You are all awesome!

Still in the Hospital
We are still here at the hospital. Jack is doing about the same. According to the doctor, the recovery will be slow. He will most likely be coughing for a couple more weeks. He will need to be on oxygen for another week. My friend, Leslie's little guy had oxygen for awhile this last December and I may get some tips from her.
We had the option to go home today, but I still feel unsteady about him, so we will be here one more night. Tomorrow we will take the little guy home along with oxygen. I will probably be a nervous wreck the first day we are home, but with David's help, we'll get through this. It will be a bit more challenging as I will have Lily to care for as well. The good thing is Jack is sleeping a bit more, so hopefully he will rest and get just healthy soon!
David and I are doing okay. I am staying here at the hospital while David takes care of Lily and visits me as much as he can. I'm a zombie right now, but am getting a bit of rest here and there.
Thank you everyone for your well wishes and for those of you who are helping us out. My family and friends mean the world to me! Love to you all!

Jack in the hospital
I know some of you are wondering why we are in the hospital. Jack got admitted yesterday after his Doctor's visit. I took him back to the Doctor's on Friday (he was there on Wednesday) as his cough just wasn't getting better. He was diagnosed with RSV and the doctor highly highly recommended we admit him to the hospital to ensure it doesn't get worse or turn into anything else (pneumonia).
So, it's been a rough ride and I'm dead tired, but we are doing okay. Jack is on oxygen and with just a tiny bit of oxygen, his pulse-ox is in the normal range. They tried taking him off the oxygen early this morning, but the pulse-ox dropped below 90 (they want it between 90-95 or higher), so back on the oxygen he went. We will probably be here tonight as well.
Send us healthy wishes. This has been hard on David and me emotionally and physically, but we are getting by. I just hate seeing sick children. It's doubly hard when it's your own baby.
I'll give an update when we get back home.

On the mend
Our family has been sick since last week. David and I had colds earlier in the week and now Lily has it. Jack seems to be fairing okay so far.
Last week some of the friends came over again and kept me company. Thanks ladies!! I tell you what, if it weren't for my family and friends, I'd be insane right now.
I have my 6 week midwife appointment tomorrow. 6 weeks already! Even though some days and nights are long, time is going by fast.
My sister Bonnie and her husband, Mark will be here in 10 days! I'm so excited!!
