Friends, Sun and the Environment

On Saturday we had Jeff and Jennifer over for a late lunch BBQ. David grilled up some turkey burgers and Jennifer brought some cut watermelon. We also had some chips and salsa and very good guacamole. We were able to hang out for a couple of hours and chat, then went for ice cream. It's always a treat to see Jeff and Jennifer as they live in Longmont, CO. They used to live here in Colorado Springs, but Jeff got a job offer he couldn't refuse and they moved to Longmont. We do get to see them every couple of months and always have a good time.

I'm trying to make it a tradition to take a walk after dinner. Tonight David, Lily, Maya and I took our neighborhood walk. It was quite warm and sunny out, so we hooked Lily up again with her shades. She wasn't as laid back with her sunglasses this time, she kept taking them off. Oh well, she kept them on long enough for a picture with her Daddy.

I finally bought my environmentally friendly grocery bag. And yes, this is from Oprah, hence the large "O" in groceries. For those of you who know me a bit better, you know I love Oprah. I have used my grocery bags a couple of times now and feel good not using up a plastic or paper bag. If you are interested in the grOceries bag, you can get one at Oprah's Website. I'm also trying to win tickets to her show by entering in the "Oprah's Show VIP Ticket Giveaway". Yes, I am entering in *every day*. If I don't win, it won't be because I didn't try. I must see Oprah before she decides to retire from television. I would love for my Mom, my sisters and I to go to a show as we all love her. Perhaps we can arrange that sometime very soon.

Let's see, what else went on this weekend. I had brunch today with my friend, Melanie and darn-it, I forgot my camera. I wanted to take a picture of her in front of the restaurant. We ate at a place called Olive Branch. It's a local restaurant in downtown Colorado Springs. They have yummie breakfasts. I had a cup of oatmeal, one egg scrambled and a cup of fruit. Melanie got two eggs fried and a cinnamon roll. When the cinnamon roll came out, it was larger than Melanie's head, seriously! It was so big we both just started laughing. I think Melanie ate about 1/100th of the bun and took the rest home. ha ha! Melanie is about 18 weeks pregnant or so and it's fun catching up with all her pregnancy stories. Thanks Melanie for a fun brunch!
