Tuesday PlayGroup

Each Tuesday Lily and I join a playgroup. Most of the kids are older than Lily, but it's a great time for me to talk with other Mommies and get good parenting tips. Lily enjoys watching the other kiddos play at the park and one day she'll get to join them!

Naming Ceremony

The Naming Ceremony for Lily was on Sunday the 24th. I was raised Catholic, so the only explanation of a Naming Ceremony would be like a Catholic Baptism. This ceremony symbolizes that Lily is a spiritual being and she is whole and wonderful and she is here on this earth to bring something that no one else can. It was a neat ceremony and 2 other cute little ones participated with Lily.

Sleepy Time

Today Lily had her Naming Ceremony at our Spiritual Center and I will blog about that later on. David took pictures on his camera, so I will wait until those pictures are downloaded.

I have good news. After several nights to get Lily to sleep on her own (in her own room, in her own bed) we have success! I was dreading tonight as I didn't want to go through another round of crying. We are doing a version of the Ferber Method and allowing Lily to cry in short periods of time, checking in on her, telling her it's okay and we love her, etc etc. Well, tonight I fed Lily, read her a story, sang her a song and left the room. I kept waiting for the crying to start. It never did! I checked in on her after 30 minutes and she was asleep! I couldn't believe it! I'm not sure if tonight is a fluke, but I'll take it! I feel so good right now. I have a couple of hours to myself!! David is hanging blinds and after he is done, we'll actually get to sit and talk without worrying about a crying baby.

Good night Moon, Good night Room, Good night Jen and David!

Nothing Much

Toes!

Nothing much to blog about lately. We are all doing fairly well. Lily did hit another milestone though. She is able to roll from her back to her belly and does it often! Whenever we lay her on the floor, she is on her belly within minutes. She also is saying "dada" quite a bit. Not sure if she knows what she is saying, but it's cute anyways.

David's Mom is currently in the hospital. She needed a lung biopsy. She is in good spirits and we hope she can go home either today or tomorrow. We are hopefully that the biopsy will come back with what is wrong. Nancy, my mother-in-law, has been having troubles breathing and was on oxygen for a bit. We hope they can diagnose her soon and get this resolved. She is too healthy and active to have to worry about oxygen and whatnot. Get well soon Mom De!

My parents will be coming to Colorado for 4th of July - really looking forward to it! Tonight I might go to my friend's graduation. Raz is graduating tonight with her BS! Way to go Raz! Tomorrow is Raz's party and we'll try to attend as well. It's a bit late for us (well, for Lily), but we'll try to at least make an appearance.

No plans for Sunday right now, perhaps we can paint Lily's room! We still haven't painted it yet. But, life has been so hectic right now that it's been lower on our priority list. I would like it done before my parents get here though. Once her room is set up, I'll send pictures...

Have a good weekend all!

Happy Father's Day and oh yea, my birthday

Happy Father's Day to all you Dad's out there. I'm especially grateful for my Dad and my husband who gets to celebrate this year! I was able to spend two weeks with my Dad in Indy and really enjoyed it.

Reasons I love my Dad:
  • He's very kind and friendly. He will always invite people over for dinner, even if he doesn't know them well.
  • He's a great Mexican cook!
  • He's a hard worker. I have many memories of being a little girl and hearing some power tool at 7am on a Saturday. I admire my Dad's work-ethic. He will work and work until the job gets done.
  • He's funny and has a great laugh.
  • He's generous. He is always thinking of other people and will go out of his way to do something nice for someone.
  • There are many more reasons...Love you Dad!
I believe we will be going out to lunch today to celebrate Dad's Day.
It's also my birthday today, but haven't really gotten too excited about it. For some reason I liked being 32 and don't want to turn 33, but can't really stop life, so here I am 33 years old.

Here's a pic of my Dad...
This was on his Birthday this year, which was June 1st

This is the only picture I have of my Dad where he is not giving the camera "the finger" - gotta love my Dad! ha ha
