Lily is 8

Lily - you are 8. What!?
You are such a special girl to me.
You like:
Traditional boy clothes and toys. Admittedly I was sad to see my girlie girl go away at first, but you are so strong and smart, I can't help but love you and everything about you.
You are in your second year of Spanish immersion.  I love to hear you speak in Spanish. You officially know more Spanish than me.
Your best friend is Jackson.
You love the colors red and black.
You have a sweet tooth to include all sweets minus chocolate. You are not a chocolate fan.
You eat an egg burrito for home lunch. You like to get school lunch when I let you. You like hot dogs and hamburgers and pizza for school lunch.
You are a collector. Your room is filled with trinkets and memories.
You will find a loophole in any situation.
You are a very good reader.
You like Harry Potter and Pokemon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
You are learning to skateboard.
You wear a ponytail almost everyday.

I love you to the moon and back!!

Jack, you are 6!

My six year old!!

Jack, today you turn SIX years old. Six sounds just like a big kid, and quite frankly, you are. You have your moments of wanting to be our baby, but overall, you are an awesome big kid.
This is what you are like these days:

  • You are shy. I think this is who you are. You open up and can be silly and crazy when you are comfortable, but when you are in a new environment, or when the attention is all on you, you are quite soft and quiet.
  • You are in Kindergarten and are doing fabulous! Your teacher is Mrs. Jenkins and you like her very much.
  • You are reading now. You can read books to me and I'm amazed at your reading abilities.
  • Your favorite color changes, but you seem to gravitate towards reds and blues.
  • You love pizza and chocolate.
  • When you eat cake, you only eat the icing.
  • You are into a few things. You enjoy Legos, How to Train Your Dragon, Om Nom from the game, "Cut the Rope", and Minecraft.
  • Speaking of Legos, this year you and your buddy from school got 2nd place in the Lego Competition among Kindergarten and 1st Graders! I'm so very proud of you.
  • You have a beautiful singing voice when you do open up and sing. You can carry a tune!
  • You give awesome hugs and you hug me every day. This is my most favorite part of my day.
  • You are compassionate. I can tell that you have the ability to put yourself in others shoes. This will serve you well.
  • You can ride your bike without training wheels. This is a skill you picked up this past fall.
  • You can tie your own shoes.
  • You are starting to do math.
  • You now take showers and can get yourself ready for bed with minimal help from me.
I love you my son! I love you to the moon and back.

Shadow picture 2014

Yearly shadow pictures.  Lily is almost as tall as me here. In real life she comes to my collarbone. Time is moving so quickly.
