Lily's First day of Kindergarten

Lily started Kindergarten on August 15th. She was excited to start school all summer long. Her first week of school went well. I was imagining she would come home exhausted, but she wasn't. My friends tell me this is because she was ready to start. She is in all day kindergarten and the house is a bit quieter without her here during the day. This is giving me an opportunity to hang with Jack. I've never had much alone time with Jack, so these next two years will prove to be some good Mommy-Jack time.

Hugs before heading out the door for all day kindergarten

Jack wanted to sit right next to Lily during breakfast. I think he understood he wouldn't see her all day.

Inside the Common Area of Lily's school

Lily waits on the stage of the Common Area each morning. Her teacher walks the entire class to their room once the bell rings.

I still have not purchased myself a new camera. I apologize for the iPhone pics. This is all I have at this time. Soon - soon I will buy myself a new camera.

Summer pictures

Since I am not the best at blogging these days, here are some pictures (all from my iPhone) of the last few weeks.

Jack doesn't nap much these days, but this day he took a couch nap - AFTER his official nap time.

Waldo Canyon Fire

As I type, the Waldo Canyon Fire is about 55% contained and so far, the fire is not spreading. The acres lost is about 17,000. 347 homes were destroyed and two people lost their lives. This was an extremely emotional time for me...more so than I would have expected. A wildfire is terrible alone, but when it moved into the West side of our city, it was terrifying. We live approximately 8 miles from the West side of town and I was still scared for our home and for the city. Seeing how quickly that fire came down from the hillside freaked me out. My thoughts go out to those affected by this fire. I give many thanks to the firefighters spending hours upon hours at a time fighting this fire. These are some pictures of the fire from my perspective.

The orange "lights" in the back middle are the homes on fire on June 26th.
