I miss boring
We have had quite a lot going on the last two weeks or so. Both kids had ear infections. I had an ear infection. I still can't hear out of my right ear. It feels/sounds as though I'm under water most of the time. I sound like an old lady with my "huh, what did you say?" The one benefit to bad hearing would be the lovely times when both kids are screaming at the top of their lungs.
Yesterday I had my 3rd interview with the part-time HR job. This time I met with the Payroll Director and I felt we had really good rapport. I was supposed to take the DISC personality test, but the person who administers it was out sick. I'm hoping to return early next week to take the test. Then from there, I hope to get an offer! I believe I'm up against one other person. I just hope I have that extra to get me the offer.
Jack is currently on a nursing strike. This happened the night we returned from Indiana (more on that trip later). I believe the strike is due to a number of things: teething, ear infection, traveling and biting. He got into the habit of biting me while nursing and I would sternly tell him "no biting" and set him on the ground. (let me tell you, biting hurts like you-know-what!) I'm struggling with feeling rejected. I'm also struggling with feeling like I'm failing as a breastfeeding mother. I wanted to breastfeed for 12 months at least and I'm falling short of that. I have nothing against formula, so not sure where this is coming from. I guess I am just proud of the fact that I made a commitment to nurse for a year and feel like I'm giving up if I don't.
I'm also not in love with the pumping every 3 hours. Pumping has never been a favorite past time of mine. I was given a name of a doula/La Leche League representative (thanks Leslie) and she gave me some really good tips. I will work on these for the next several days. If it appears he is definitely done with nursing, I will continue to pump and perhaps substitute a feeding or two with formula. I'm reading that most babies who strike do go back to breastfeeding. Wish us well!
We were in Indiana this last week. It was so very nice to hang out with the family. I always enjoy my Indiana time. With my ear infection, it wasn't as pleasant as in the past, but I am grateful for the time I had with them. I miss you lots family!!

oh what a week!
Okay - so it wasn't teething. Lily had an ear infection. She's been on antibiotics and actually had her last dose today. And now - now Jack has an ear infection. He was lethargic and fussy and had a fever - the tale tell signs that something is wrong. So, back to the Doctor's and yes, it's an ear infection. I think Jack took the first dose of antibiotics well as he was down on the ground crawling a little bit tonight.
We are traveling to Indy soon and wanted to make sure they are okay to fly. We are clear to travel, we just have to keep their nasal passages as clear as possible while flying. Love you Lily and Jack - feel better soon!!

Feel better soon little one!

Two weeks ago (before the sickies), Nana and Abba came for a visit! We are lucky to get to see them so much!!

On a lighter note...I'm still working on the sweater that I started, oh, back in October 2006! I have one more sleeve to knit, then I put it all together!! I still tell David to not expect anything until Christmas 2010 - better get on it!

School, Standing and Winter wear
September is going well for us. We also welcomed another baby this month. My friends April and Brad welcomed baby Drew on the 6th. Congratulations!! I cannot wait to meet him! This is my 5th friend to have a baby in 5 weeks. Ah, baby fever. Love it!!
I have been looking around for part time HR jobs for awhile now. These are very few and far between. I actually found one last week and have an interview tomorrow. I am very excited for the interview. Normally I'm nervous for interviews, but I don't really need to work, so I'm much more relaxed about it. I believe working again will give me some mental challenges that I have been missing. This will be a nice balance for me. If I do not get the position, I am okay with this as well. I'm sure there is lots of competition with the economy the way it is. I'll just continue to look and go from there.
I am keeping my social calendar full. This is good as I really enjoy and need friend time to keep my spirits high. This last weekend I went to my friend Betsy's house and did some stamping. I actually got 4 cards completed while getting in some good chatting time. Tomorrow night I'm getting together with a couple of girl friends for Margaritas and more chatting. Friday is coffee with some other friends and a playgroup! I love love love playgroups. Thank you to all my Mommy friends for your time. It's so nice to get to bond with you and share our highs and lows of being a Mommy.

Jack is not only crawling, he is pulling himself up to a standing position. He has also mastered going up our two stairs that separate our family room from our kitchen. Unfortunately he doesn't understand gravity and we have to watch him closely as he doesn't quite have going down the stairs yet. (The picture of Jack on the steps is actually Lily's picture. She is still snapping away and takes some good shots.)

Lily's been a hoot lately. The things she comes up with are amazing. I love hanging out with her and just getting to know her more. She went through a "winter phase" for a couple of days. The temps were in the 80s, but that didn't stop her. The middle picture is a rare pigtails picture. Normally Lily will have nothing to do with barrettes in her hair. The last picture was from this morning. It was the 1st day of school! She is back in Mom's Morning Out and she really enjoyed her day today. (So did I)
